What are we up to?

Take a look at what is going on in our lives these days.

We are busier these days than we have been at any point before now. We are preparing for a Peruvian missions retreat in early June, immediately followed by the arrival of interns and the start of a full summer. We are also in the last planning stages of some developmental projects to implement in the coming weeks. However, besides special events, projects and visits, here is what we do on a more regular basis.

Some things occur every other week. Megan and Larissa are in charge of kids’ events at the four libraries, with two locations assigned to each. These alternate Saturdays and involve reading, crafts and other activities. Greg and Kyle lead a study at El Naranjal, Manuela’s community, every other Sunday morning. The McKinzies’ are still hosting a family study for their landlords every other week as well.

The majority of our current activities happen on a weekly basis. Two of the four libraries have ongoing Lectura Biblica (Bible Reading) sessions with Greg. Two teenage girls still visit the Smith home to study Mark with Kyle and cook with Larissa. Two other teenage girls come to the McKinzies’ to study. Manuela studies at the McKinzie home and is doing some serious thinking about how it applies to her life. We are now studying Genesis with the group on Wednesday evenings that is comprised of both Christians and non-Christians. Add in our team meeting time, church planning time, language classes for some, and our weeks stay fairly busy.

In addition to evangelistic studies, our Sunday gatherings have grown to about a dozen Christians coming together for a meal and to share communion, worship, and a focused thought. Lee and Dori Williams (our missionary friends) will be moving to Argentina soon, and since meeting together to celebrate Easter, our groups have slowly merged. It has been a joy to meet with a larger number of believers and we look forward to the day that we have too many to keep in one house and must multiply! We also hope to integrate these Peruvian Christians into our Grupos de Transformación Personal (Personal Transformation Groups or GTP’s). These are gender specific small groups (no more than 3) that meet weekly, focusing on Bible reading, prayer and accountability. Our team has been meeting accordingly (men/women) and we are in the process of adjusting to include the others.

We covet and appreciate your prayers about any and all of these things, from the mundane to the exciting. Please keep in your prayers those who are studying and those who have yet to request to do so, that God will prepare their hearts and draw them to Him.
