Naranjal Workday

On Sunday the men and women of Naranjal held a workday to prepare for the installation of three water tanks.

This past Sunday Greg and I headed out to Naranjal at 5:30 AM to be with them as they held a faena, a work day, to construct the base that their three new water tanks would rest upon. We had a good morning chatting with Manuela and the other directors of their community. While the men and women worked Greg and I moved about them taking pictures and video, and most importantly making new friends. At one point a women handed Greg a pick, because he had been standing still for too long, and he set to work on a massive boulder they had been trying to clear. All in all it was a great morning. On Thursday we will purchase the three tanks in the morning and then have them installed and filled that afternoon. A dream will come true for that community. Something they had not planned on for years.

A special thanks to the kids at ETCA for their help with this project. They recently held a fundraiser and have given $1500 to the team to be used at El Naranjal. Because of their generosity families will have clean water to drink this weekend. What a fantastic Christmas present to the people of El Naranjal.
